Situation in the Middle East
Travel advice to Canadians
Due to military activity in the Middle East, we have updated our travel advice for countries in the region. Canadians are advised to avoid all travel to Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Qatar and the UAE and to avoid non-essential travel to Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia.
Our advice to Canadians in Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, has been updated and will continue to be as the situation evolves. Canadians in the region should:
- Be vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities at all times, including any orders to shelter in place or to evacuate
- Sign up with the Registration of Canadians Abroad service to receive important information about the evolving situation
- Ensure that their travel documents and those of their family members are up to date
- Monitor local and international media to stay informed of the rapidly evolving situation
Consult the travel advice regularly for more details about your destination at: https://travel.gc.ca/destinations. Canadians and Permanent Residents registered with the Registration of Canadians Abroad service receive these updates directly.
At any time, Canadians may also contact the Emergency Watch and Response Centre in Ottawa, which is open 24 hours a day. Contact information is available at travel.gc.ca/emergencies.
